2004-2005 Post Doc in electricity markets and power systems operation, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece
1999-2003 Ph. D. in electricity markets and power systems operation, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece
1994-1999 Diploma in Electrical & Computer Engineering; Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece

Academic Experience

2014 – Present Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece
2009 – 2014 Lecturer in the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece
1999 – 2003 Lessons to undergraduate students of the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece

Professional Experience

Electrical and Computer Engineer / Energy Consultant
March 2005 – July 2009: Power Systems and Electricity Market Specialist in the Hellenic Transmission System Operator (HTSO), Day-Ahead Market Department, in which the daily business of the Greek wholesale electricity market was performed (Capacity rights auctions, scheduling of imports/exports, Day-Ahead Scheduling, Dispatching Scheduling of production units).

I participated in working groups for the harmonization of HTSO with the provisions of the “Greek Grid and Exchange Code”, in commissions for the “Mathematical Formulation of the Day-Ahead Scheduling problem”, and in groups for the harmonization of the market rules in the Central-South European (CSE) Region (including Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia and Greece). I was the delegate of HTSO for the development of the Day-Ahead Scheduling solver (in the cooperation with AREVA T&D), which is still applied for the clearing of the day-ahead market in Greece.

July 2009 – Present: As a member of the Power Systems Lab, I participated actively in two software products for the analysis and simulation of the electricity markets, namely “Day-Ahead Scheduling” and “Long-Term Scheduling”, licenses of which have been granted to all leading energy companies in Greece (PPC, PROTERGIA, ELPEDISON POWER, HERON).

I also leaded (as a Principal Investigator) or participated (as a Senior Researcher) in 55 projects funded by Greek and international institutions, energy associations, energy companies, etc. The complete list of the implemented projects is shown below.

July 2009 – Present: As an Electrical Engineer, I have undertaken and implemented more than 50 projects for energy studies, risk management analysis in the production, trading and retail sector, forecasting of the System Marginal Prices in short-term and mid-term horizon, consulting services on wholesale and retail electricity markets, etc.
